The greatest opportunity one can receive is being given the honor of serving humanity. I am proud to have been given the role of CEO at the Noor Dubai Foundation, a UAE based charity with a voice echoing through darkness and a vision of a world free from avoidable forms of blindness.
On behalf of the members of the board of trustees and the employees at the foundation, it gives me great pleasure to invite you to navigate the official Website of Noor Dubai, to better understand our vision, our activities, and our contributions towards sustainable development in the field of eye care.
We have come a long way since the inception of Noor Dubai in 2008, and we are proud to say that to date over 27 million individuals have benefited from our comprehensive outreach programs across Africa and Asia. Our efforts are enormous, yet our intention remains simple: to assist those in need, reviving the gift of sight, and empowering them to enjoy a healthy and happy life.
Focusing on the three pillars of blindness prevention, Noor Dubai designed its international and national strategic programs to achieve sustainable impact on health and well-being through delivering preventive, therapeutic, and awareness projects globally, while concentrating on human capital development through training and empowerment. In line with the World Health Organization global action plan, Noor Dubai incorporated rehabilitation into its strategy making it more inclusive in addressing the needs of the visually impaired.
As a member of the International Agency for Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) and the International Coalition for Trachoma Control (ICTC), Noor Dubai is working with partners and government bodies to help countries achieve their sustainable development goal – Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3). The programs are also indirectly linked to other SDGs such as – No Poverty (SDG1) and Clean water and Sanitation (SDG6). Noor Dubai is also actively supporting the SAFE strategy for trachoma prevention and treatment.
In 2019, we are proud to announce the launch of our flagship program, which aims to improve and upgrade eye care services to provide sustainable care to the locals and neighboring communities. We hope that over the next 4 years we can extend the program to other countries in Africa and Asia.
Finally, it gives me great pleasure in thanking our partners, supporters, and donors whose generous contribution and support was vital for the success of our programs. With their support, we reached out to 27 million individuals in need and we are determined to help many more to enjoy a healthy and happy life.
